Video Recording Best Practices
Here are some tips to help your candidates with recording a video interview.
Tip 1: Check the lighting
You would like to present yourself nicely for the interview. Make sure the the room is well lit and free from noise. Check that your resources are working (ie, microphone and webcam).
Tip 2: Don’t wear something distracting
Imagine watching a video interview with the applicant wearing something distracting like a tube top or sandos. Neutral and solid colors, simple or no patterns are pleasant to the eyes; avoid stripes and checks. Don’t forget to maintain a good straight posture.
Tip 3: Don’t sound like your doppelganger
Don’t try to mimic others. There’s a tendency for us to change the tone, pitch and even the volume of our voice to impress the hiring manager. Get rid of the fake you and be yourself!
Tip 4: Don’t talk nineteen to the dozen!
Try to be as articulate as you can be and avoid rushing your answers. You’ll be given enough time to read the questions and think about your answer. As much as possible avoid saying fillers and use the option to hide your camera’s view if necessary to boost your confidence.
Tip 5: Breathe in, breathe out
Don’t forget to breathe, relax and smile. Stay positive!
